Inspired by the cleverness of yesteryear musicians, Morton Instrumentation brings back the simpicity of home made music with modern playability and build quality.

Cigar box guitars have a long and storied history.

Dating back to before the American Civil War, and gaining popularity again during the Great Depression,these little creations brought music to those who could not afford a luthier build instrument. Simple, modest and unpretinous, these gems are what brought about the 'blues'.

The build was simple, use what ever was at hand, namely a cigar box, attatch a neck, and either copy a fret board or use the rule of 18 and , Da Ta! a cigar box guitar is born!

I have tried to remain faithful to these original creation, using modest materials, but have brought my desire for these guitars to play just like modern equipment.

Everything is hand made. The finish is all natural shellac, and most of the hardware was never meant for an instrument, Yet they play just right, and have a sound all unto their own.
